Is it bacon or is it jam?
In our modern age, can’t it be both?
The clever (and obviously, quite delightfully mad) food artisans at skilletbaconjam.com have succeeded where the lion’s share of their competing brethren have failed: they’ve piqued my curiosity in an age where the essence of bacon has touched everything from dental floss to auto air freshener, and until this very moment, had ceased to interest or impress me with its myriad potential applications.
Real Simple had this to say on the subject:
“This savory blend of bacon, onions, spices, and balsamic vinegar is perfect for your pork-loving oinkle. Spread on grilled cheese, burgers, and toast.”
Bacon, rendered, spiced with onions and other flavorful goodness, puréed for four hours, and then flash-chilled. Damn.
Proprietors of skilletbaconjam.com: You have my attention. I defy anyone to name the food upon which this wouldn’t taste phenomenal.
But don’t take my word for it. Try a jar. I certainly will. Look for my follow-up review once I’ve received (and completely emptied) my jar of tasty, tasty sin.
