Apart from the obvious enjoyment of good food, good cooking, and restaurant/bar culture that drives me, the chief appeal of food writing is for me, its perpetual learning process. The ability to partake of the wisdom of others writing on the same topics as myself, to discover new recipes and restaurants and food markets in the process, is for me a source of continual inspiration (not to mention humbling and exploration, as it reinforces to me how much more there is to learn.) Prolific Minneapolis Food Examiner R.C. Johnson is one such example of a food writer whose writing routinely awes me.
