Vinegar Caviar, a Tequila Buffet, Star Wars in Your Coffee, and a Women’s Oenological Empowerment Kickstarter

Flavorful World’s Friday Fourplay offers up a bite-sized tidbit of info on each of the four food- and drink-related things we found most interesting each week.

Gingras XO Pixo Pearls

This product’s website calls it “vinegar caviar.” Made with Gingras XO (extra old) Apple Cider Vinegar, these little spheres seem like what you’d add to a meal you wanted to bite you back with interesting texture and subtle but tangy flavor. Garnish with them. Let their lend contrast to sweeter dishes. The possibilities are many and they are exciting.

Tequila Buffet

A great presentation piece for your tequila and all margarita ingredients and accoutrements, this is a handcrafted item. Not only is it created by hand, but it’s also rendered from dismantled Appalachian barns and residences (yes, really!) It also comes with a paring knife, salt bowls, and other tools intended to set your tequila service apart from the amateurs.

Stars Wars Coffeemaker

I honestly cannot decide which joking coffee-laced Star Wars reference to make here. It’s a toss-up between “Brew the Force, Luke,” and “May the Force be with brew.” At any rate, fans will appreciate this limited-edition item manufactured by Nestlé in two styles, one whose appearance and theme are fashioned after C3PO and the other after Darth Vader.  Each comes with a similarly-styled mug. (Ooh! Ooh! I just thought of a new one: “It’s a frappe!” Oh yeah, nailed it…)

Women’s Oenological Empowerment Kickstarter

Aimed examining and supporting the contributions of South Africa’s women to its centuries-old wine history, here is a book project that accomplishes two goals worth assisting.  Besides nurturing a growing viticulture in which women are taking on greater roles and facing greater career challenges, contributors to this Kickstarter page can take an active hand in women empowerment initiatives in the region for as little as $5.00.  Contribute $50.00 and receive a copy of the book by December 2013 (a good Christmas ’13 gift for your favorite oenophile?).  A $25.00 contribution will get you the e-book.
