I tried Vemma’s product line without knowing what to expect.  Not a habitual consumer of energy drinks, I had little experience with evaluating their merits or lack thereof.  Also, a bit of research into the company returned some less than encouraging press containing words and phrases like “FTC complaint,” “scam,” and “pyramid scheme,” among others.  However, as a believer in giving the benefit of the doubt, (I have likewise read a great deal of positive press about the company as well) I accepted an invitation to sample and review  this line.  My reasons for doing so were twofold: first, the experience promised to be broadening, whatever my impression of the product, and secondarily, because perhaps my lack of regular energy drink consumption made me a perfect avatar for other like me who are trying it for the first time, and thus are approaching the experience free of expectation.  For the record, this review will address only my impressions of the beverages themselves. Far too many conflicting claims  have been printed concerning the wisdom of individuals entering into any business seller/affiliate relationship with the company, and so on that topic I will not comment beyond saying that as with entering into any business relationship, the importance of doing one’s research cannot be overestimated.

Having received a generous variety of products, each sounding unlike any of its fellow beverages, I was excited, if somewhat daunted.  As I’ve written before, gauging the absence of a particular sensation can be challenging.  That challenging aspect, however, is exactly what made it an attractive undertaking, and so I began.  For this review, I received samples of Vemma, Verve ParTea, Vemma Renew, Verve Bold, Verve Zero Sugar, and Bod•e Shake.

Pleasant mangosteen flavor takes center stage in the Vemma beverage.  Accompanying this are green tea and other herbal elements.  I took this one first thing on what I knew would be a hectic Monday morning and was pleased to find myself sustained (or at least feeling alert and more than sufficiently energized) through noontime.  Vemma ParTea, as its name would imply, has tea as its major player in terms of taste, laced with fruity elements that call to mind chugging it on sun-splashed afternoons.  Vemma Bold, by comparison, is a caffeinated brew that gave me a -pick-me-up unaccompanied by the jitters that caffeine lately has wrought in me.

Of the samples, I most enjoyed the ParTea for its uncharacteristic flavor combination (I haven’t encountered many tea-based energy beverages, making ParTea a pleasant wild card) and the Vemma beverage, for its 2-ounce size perfect for quick ingestion, and its not-too-sweet, slightly tart,  mangosteen-led flavor.  These two also proved to be long-lasting, and were the two whose effects I felt soonest.  This product line will likely appeal to health-conscious individuals, as Vemma’s beverages are made with plant-based minerals, ultra-purified reverse osmosis water, a blend of phytonutrients, and are free of gluten, dairy, and artificial colors and sweeteners.  Ranging from full-serving ready-to-drink beverages to mix-and-drink powders to fast 2-ounce shots, Vemma products taste great, their variety of flavors offering everyone something to like, and do indeed seem to deliver on their claims of energizing effects.
