New Yorkers get ready, and food lovers get to New York soon, because May 27th through the 31st, the 2014 New Taste of the Upper West Side returns to NYC. Those who live not just to eat, but to eat (and drink) well can count on an outstanding lineup of new and returning restaurants, notable chefs, and celebrity hosts during this unforgettable three-night culinary celebration.
Created by the Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District, (BID) this not-to-be-missed seventh annual event will donate all net proceeds from the event to the community for neighborhood improvement and beautification projects such as the Columbus Avenue BID’s sustainable streetscape project, Wellness in the Schools program, and Theodore Roosevelt Park Fund.
On the evening of Tuesday, May 27th, Soirée in the Park is the event that will start things off, featuring live music, cocktails, champagne, and hors d’oeuvres under the stars. Travel Channel’s Adam Richman and Food Network star/Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli will pitch a tent on May 30th and The Apple’s own DJ Phresh will drop beats as they co-host 40+ Upper West Side restaurants competing in the Comfort Classics to win this year’s “Best Comfort Food Dish.” Casting a spotlight on the cream of the Upper West Side’s culinary culture, May 31st’s Best of the West will be presented by Ford and will showcase signature fare created over 40 celebrated chefs and restaurateurs. This year’s honoree will be Daniel Boulud.
