Gaithersburg, Maryland’s Seneca Creek State Park has for years been home to the annual Winter Lights Festival that draws visitors from far and wide to enjoy lighted holiday displays throughout its grounds after dark. This year, a new attraction is added to the mix in the form of the park’s first “Wine Under the Lights” event.
On November 15, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m., visitors over age 21 can bring a blanket and enjoy a cozy 3-mile trolley ride either preceded or followed by live musical entertainment and a wine tasting inside a heated tent. This tasting package also includes a selection of 8 tastings by Linganore Winecellars and Finewine.com (with individual glasses of wine available for purchase beyond the 8 selections), light fare, a hot beverage, and a commemorative wine glass to mark the event and serve as a conversational ice-breaker anytime you wield it around people unfamiliar with how you roll during holiday season.
Admission is $18 for the tasting package. For teetotalers and designated drivers, the non-tasting package is only $12. Credit cards are accepted for both advance and on-site registration.
City residents who take advantage of advance registration receive a $2 discount per package.
