Product Review: Zesteez Artisanal Chutneys

Jar of Zesteez brand Tomato Chunky Chutney

Samples of Tomato Chunky Chutney and Mango Tango Chutney sent courtesy of Zesteez arrived in the Flavorful World kitchen not long ago. As a lover of the cuisine of South Asia, and of India in particular, I found much to enjoy about these products.

The Zesteez brand markets it chutneys as being “A celebration of spices,” a claim fulfilled as much in the aromas of these two products as in their taste. The Tomato Chunky Chutney is fragrant with bold essences of ginger, cumin, chili peppers and more that underlie the roasted savoriness of tomato and chili pepper. In the Mango Tango Chutney, the smells of paprika, bell pepper, citrus fruit, and other spices lend an exotic element to the mango and honey elements at the forefront. In each case, these fragrances declare their presences upon the palate as well, translating into flavor complexity that I have rarely found in any similar product sold in a jar.

Jar of Zesteez brand Mango Tango Chutney

The Tomato Chunky Chutney has a spicy, fire-roasted quality to its flavor that plays well with red meat dishes, rice courses, hard cheeses, tacos, soups, and flatbreads. The Mango Tango Chutney brings the heat as well. It delivers a more subtle burn than the tomato chutney, its spice seeming somehow both amplified and mitigated by the fresh-tasting, almost candied sweetness of mango and honey. Its fruity elements make it a perfect match for seafood, soft cheeses, tacos, and white meat dishes.

As attractive as their flavors, aromas, and textures featuring big, flavorful fruit and vegetable chunks, is knowing that Zesteez chutneys are low in sodium and free of cholesterol and gluten. In addition, the Tomato Chunky Chutney is vegan, while the Mango Tango variety is vegetarian.

Zesteez chutneys are big on flavor, with pleasing textures, making them a delicious complement to virtually any meal. Learn more about Zesteez artisanal chutneys and find great recipes at www.zesteez.com.
