For better or worse, I’ve been away from New York long enough that I don’t often find myself missing my hometown. On those instances when I do, my nostalgia is always bound to some eating or drinking experience that I enjoyed as a much younger man. It’s unsurprising then, that some recent news to come my way has accomplished the feat of making me feel homesick. Yes, there’s drinking and eating involved.
On Thursday, November 19th, celebrated New York newspaper and culture/lifestyle authority The Village Voice will host its third annual Holiday Spirits cocktail cruise to bid official welcome to the holiday season. The 6-10 pm event comprises a New York harbor cruise and dinner, and will feature unlimited sampling from more than 25 distilleries, wineries & more from New York City and beyond. The festivities will take place aboard The Hornblower Infinity Cruise Ship, sailing from Pier 40 at West Houston Street.
Spirits that attendees can expect to find on hand include Atsby Vermouth, Breuckelen Distilling, Brooklyn Gin, Brooklyn Winery, Jack from Brooklyn, Queens Courage Gin, Port Morris Distillery, Prairie Organic Vodka, Scorpion Mezcal, Tanteo Spirits and a host more soon to be announced. VIP and General Admission tickets are on sale right now. Get yours here.
This year’s Holiday Spirits will feature two tiers of ticket options: General Admission ($55) and VIP ($70). General Admission ticketholders will enjoy complimentary samples from 25+ spirits and a complimentary buffet dinner, along with a cruise around Manhattan and the New York Harbor offering breathtaking city views, a souvenir tasting glass, live entertainment and more. VIP tickets include all of these, plus exclusive access to a private VIP deck with private lounge and bar, and a special VIP gift bag. Check out www.villagevoice.com/holidayspirits/ for details on these ticket options.
A portion of proceeds from the Holiday Spirits cruise will benefit Lifebeat, the leading national nonprofit dedicated to educating America’s youth (13-29) about HIV/AIDS prevention. Lifebeat mobilizes the talents and resources of the music industry to deliver HIV/AIDS and STDs awareness messages through broadcast, print, social and digital media, and distributes educational literature and condoms at concert venues, music festivals, clubs and other events.
