Natural Gourmet Institute and Vegetarian Times to Offer Online Cooking Course

Many of us are interested in preparing healthier meals at home, but don’t know where to begin, and would be hard-pressed to find the time for it even if we did. Working full-time, shuttling the kids between school and afternoon or weekend activities, and still trying to have the occasional moment to oneself leaves little time to pursue any kind of in-classroom training in cooking in accordance with a plant-based lifestyle.

Leading health-supportive school Natural Gourmet Institute (NGI) has partnered with renowned Vegetarian Times magazine to make preparing homemade vegetarian and vegan meals easier by offering their first online cooking course, “Foundations of Plant-Based Nutrition.”

NGIcourse“Whether you’re a plant-based home cook looking for inspiration, or an avid foodie contemplating a food-industry career, this seven-module course will give you a jump-start into the essentials of cooking techniques and nutrition specific to vegetarians,” says Michele Crockett, Editor-in-Chief of Vegetarian Times.

Helmed by NGI’s Director of Nutrition, Kayleen St. John, MS, RD, the course is designed for beginners as well as experienced cooks alike, It begins with basic principles of nutrition that clarify dietary fact vs. fiction, and essential plant-centric cooking techniques, before working its way up to more complex concepts.

Course lessons and materials are created based on the latest research, in an engaging format that includes interactive activities, video how-to’s, quizzes, and lots of recipes. Upon finishing the course, each student receives a “Certificate of Digital Completion” to commemorate their accomplishment.

For anyone who’s been looking for a comprehensive vegan and vegetarian cooking course that will fit actually into their personal schedule, this course could be a leap worth taking.

“Foundations of Plant-Based Nutrition” classes begin on April 27th, 2016. Register starting on April 5, 2016.
