Holiday Cocktail Recipe Series: Day 11 of 12 – The Blue Dreidel

The Jewish holiday Hanukkah begins on December 24th this year and will last for eight days and nights, concluding on January 1st, 2017, and the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit on Mexico’s Pacific Coast is celebrating the Festival of Lights with a custom cocktail. For traveling palates who can’t make it to the resort this year, this recipe is simple enough to make at home. Presented with chocolate coins serving as traditional Hanukkah gelt (money), the drink combines Bombay gin, macerated grapes, fresh rosemary and lemon juice.

Today’s cocktail:

The Blue Dreidel
Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

  • 1 oz Blue Curaçao
  • 1 oz Bombay gin
  • Dash of lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 green grapes
  • Soda Water
  • Chopped dried fruit
  • Slice of lemon
  • Sprig rosemary

Macerate the grapes, lemon, rosemary and sugar in a glass. Add ice, gin and Curaçao to glass. Top with soda water. Garnish with a slice of lemon and sprinkle rosemary on top. Serve and enjoy.

*Don’t tell her I said that; she’ll just roll her eyes hard enough to risk dislocating both her orbs, and nobody needs that, am I right? Besides, it’s more entertaining when she happens upon things like that of her own accord. You should see the look on her face!
